Nearly 100 pupils have successfully passed the Computing module in Austria so far, following its introduction by OCG, the ECDL operator in the country. The need for IT experts and a digitally educated workforce continues to rise. As a result, problem solving, and coding have become the focus of educational policy in Austria.

From the 2018-2019 academic year, Austrian schools must implement an ambitious new curriculum for basic digital education, “Digitale Grundbildung”, for secondary school students between ages 10 and 14. The Computing module covers all of the teaching contents that schools must provide under the curriculum.

In an interview with Austrian daily newspaper, Kurier, Ronald Bieber, OCG Secretary General, said, “Motivating children to pursue technical careers is the answer to the lack of skilled labour.”
