DLGI, the operator of the ICDL programme in Germany, organised an ‘ICDL Kick-off’ event to launch ICDL in the country on 10 October. The event, which took place in Bonn, featured experts in the field of education and economy and was part of European Vocational Skills Week.

Speakers at the event included Prof. Dr. Friedrich Hubert Esser, President of the German Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB); Johannes Landvogt, Ministerial Director at the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BfDI); Dr. Regina Flake, Economist at the German Economic Institute; and Tony Franke, Chairman at the ICDL Foundation.

Katrin Cürük, Advisor for Public Relations and Digital Learning from DLGI said, “Our focus for the event is to bring economy and education together. We hope we can create a strong and dynamic collaboration for the future between schools and companies.”

The CEO of DLGI, Thomas Michel added, “When it comes to practical working skills, VET is one of the most important things we have to digitise and ICDL can help to build a solid foundation level for every participant.

“The European Vocational Skills Week can be a great reason to take a look at the activities in our countries and the organisations which are focused on the European mindset. We know how important an international network is, and this event has the potential to bring people together.”
